But I'm on this whole No Eat Out November thing...well, kinda...I'm meeting up with a friend for dinner tomorrow night.
That's besides the point though. . .
I usually want something hot when it's cold, but because I am trying to watch my pennies and my waistline (because face it, eating out packs on the pounds), I am really trying to limit my eating out in November. If it's not a social event, I'm not eating out! In the fall/winter, I long to cook more, don't you? Now is the time for stew and chili and soup and homemade everything!
Even though it was dangerously cold in The Bay this morning (read: a little above 50 degrees) and I wanted soup from Soup Co. for lunch, I resisted the urge. I mean, I took the time to pack my lunch for work, so I had to eat it right? RIGHT.
I was still cold though, so I decided to turn my ordinary salad into something extraordinarily caliente by creating a spicy salad dressing that warmed my heart (and everything else).
As you all know, I do not throw much away. I just believe that you can reuse almost anything. As much as I love luxury, I have a very practical side, so when I saw my that pear was beginning to age like cheese, I knew that I had to do something about it! Why not create a pear-sriracha salad dressing???
Ingredients:
- 1 ugly pear
- 1 tablespoon of sriracha
- Mrs. Dash - about 2 shakes of a kitten
- 1/2 tablespoon of EVOO
- 1/2 cup of water (substitute coconut milk)
Throw everything into the blender of your choice and let it rip! Toss some spinach, mushrooms, avocado and cherry tomatoes together and layer the yummy dressing on top! It's hot when it's cold, it's healthy, it's cost effective and for me, it was FREE! #NoEatOutNovember
