It’s a never-ending summer around this piece! As I type this blog post, my room is 82 degrees.
Eighty-two.
I thought fall started on 9/22? Why in the world is it this hot in the bay area? A lot of it has to do with climate change, global warming and the effects of our actions on our planet. It’s a reminder that what we do today has direct consequences on the next generation.
I could say “go vegan” and stop this. I could say “give a damn” about the world around you. I could say “put the planet over profit”, but you’ve heard all of these things before and chances are, you’ve poo-pooed them.
Since we are in a pandemic, I won’t lecture. This time in our lives is too precious for a lecture. You know what to do and like with most things, it’s just a matter of doing it.
Let’s focus on the good of this situation!
SUMMER FRUITS ARE STILL IN SEASON!!!
I have had theeeee best watermelon and pineapple of my life during this FALL season. What in the world? It makes no sense, but nothing does right now.
I love everything about fall, except the loss of my favorite juicy fruits! Apricots, apples, and pumpkin just don’t have the same flavor of mangos, cherries, and watermelons. Along with being delicious, watermelon and pineapple are packed with skin-strengthening nutrients.
Pineapple:
Along with being a great relief for coughs, colds, and sore throats, pineapples are loaded with vitamin C which is great for our skin and helps to ease skin scars. If you have the willpower to cut one open and refrain from eating it immediately, you can use crushed pineapple to treat pimples and create face masks.
Watermelon:
Full of vitamin E and supremely hydrating, watermelon can soothe irritated skin in a flash. It is not acidic, so no need to be overly cautious when using it to create natural skincare products. Some skincare mixologists even use the rind to treat pesky skin conditions. Don’t be afraid to use what you already have in your kitchen for skincare products. In most cases, if you can eat it and it’s good for you, it’s safe for your skin.
Let’s continue to find the joy in our extended bay area summer! Who knows what other good things can come from it? Stay open and stay healthy!
