It started with Vegan Soul Sunday last weekend and it goes on until this Sunday. There are events. It is grand. It's all happening and I feel tremendously thankful to be here in the midst of it all. There's something incredibly special about being where you are supposed to be and feeling justified. Something magnificent is happening in my life and I am truly in tune with it.

Don't miss what's going on in your life.

If you haven't been hella inspired lately, it just means that you aren't living and doing what you have been called to do.

Now that we have identified the issue, it's time for you to do something about it!

SCANDALous Thoughts About Bill

Episode 19
Season 4
I'm Just a Bill

1. "No matter how white the knight, all men are just like your father!" Dang! Was Daddy Pope right? Are all men just like my Dad?

2. Who knew the "fluff & fold" was so bloody?

3. "I am someone that gets answers to my questions." Liv is a baaaaad chick!

4. I love how Fitz and Susan worked together in the end.

5. "The time is always right to do right." Don't forget that the next time you are sleeping with Fitz, Olivia! You know I mean it when I call her Olivia.

6. Mellie for Senate? Meh. Not sure how I feel about this yet.

This episode is called "I'm Just A Bill" and who is the Bill? Who is the man still? Mr. Bill Clinton, that's who! He has endured his share of scandal (see what I did there?), but he is also responsible for "little" things like FMLA, appointing the first woman as attorney general - Janet Reno and signing a health care reform bill to help workers keep their health insurance while switching jobs. Additionally, the man is not shy about expressing the amazing benefits of a healthy plant based diet. He's not just a bill...he's Theeeee Bill! #BillClinton2016!!! No? Oh, okay. . .

That's NOT vegan?!!?

I got sooo sick this weekend from eating whole wheat bread. Me and the toilet were besties (and not in a good way). So, after church I went back to the grocery store and purchased Udi Bread and came home to bag the whole wheat bread up and give it away. So, here I am just chomping away on this delicious, crusty Udi Bread and something says, “Girl, look at the back of the bag.”

There it was: “This product contains egg.”

Kill me.

Allllll this time I thought Udi Bread was vegan because it indicated “Soy, Wheat and Dairy Free” on the bag. What more did I need right? Wrong.

Always, always, always read labels during your health journey. I should have known better.

Until Udi gets their minds right, I will order my gluten free and vegan bread from the Food For Life store instead.

Because eggs are NOT vegan!

It's Mocktail Time: Lemon Smoother

4/5/2015

We just celebrated Easter a few seconds ago and I don't know about you, but after Easter I start to get that spring/summer feeling. I want to pull out pretty colors and put away the black. I want to eat a ton of fruit (more than usual) and I want a refreshing drink. So, come to "the bar" and let me buy you a drink, sans the alcohol.

Why don't I drink alcohol anymore?

Easy.

If I am working so hard to cleanse my body of toxins, why would I consume toxins that have NO nutritional value for the sake of a high? To me, it makes no sense.

But there needs to be a compromise right? So here it is, the mocktail of all mocktails. It's the Lemon Smoother ya'll!

Ingredients:
  • Lemon Sorbet
  • Lemon Coconut Water
  • Ginger Ale

Directions:

1. Pour about a 1/2 cup of lemon coconut water into a glass.

2. Pour about a 1/2 cup of ginger ale into a glass.

3. Spoon out about 1 1/2 tablespoons of lemon sorbet on top of the ginger ale and lemon coconut water. The sorbet will float to the top.

4. Garnish this mocktail with mint, lemon zest or a lemon wedge (optional).

Refreshing. Tart. Easy!

Looks something like beer right?

Bottoms Up!

SCANDALous Thoughts about Getting Clean

Honor Thy Father
Episode 18 Season 4

SCANDALous Thoughts:

1.       Ain’t nobody testifying against Daddy Pope! Good night and good luck!

2.       Hey that was Waterfront SEU (or something like it)! #GreenLine

3.       They are trying hard to keep Charlie alive!

4.       Sister Soapy can’t call her brother-in-law Fitz instead of Mr. President? Come on Mellie!

5.       I like when Fitz dresses down. I like when Obama dresses down. Sometimes dressing down helps you to get your                 mind right.

6.       WAIT, Jake was willing to drag Liv across the hall (again) if they try to kill him?

7.       I don’t think David is going to make it through this season. Get his memorial suit ready.

8.     I’m sooo not surprised that Liv’s new boy toy is in bed with Daddy Pope. That guy always plays stretchy characters.

I hope that Mellie's soap-making sister comes back to the show soon. She puts fear in all of their hearts and spices up the White House story line, tremendously. Her duck fat soap making behind was my favorite of the night. While soaps from Dr. Bronner and Earth Therapeutics do not contain duck fat, they still get the job done! The lavender soap (below) is in my shower right now. It has a nice lather, doesn't strip my skin of natural oils and it tingles! While lavender is a calming fragrance, the tingle is a great pick-me-up in the morning. Most of their soaps contain oils so your skin won't suffer because you hit the bar (of soap).

Can't give up your meat right now? Got it.

One of the quickest ways to support our animals is to ban items that are tested on them in your household. So even if you "can't" put down the chicken, you can pick up conscious product brands that support a humane society. If your soap was tested on animals (or contains duck fat), throw it out! Trust me, there are so many superb vegan product lines out there...you won't miss a beet. :-)

The Apple of My Eye

In the past, apples have not moved me and unless they were in a pie topped with ice cream, I could not get past their texture. If Nana didn't peel and dice them for me, they were not appetizing. I know how spoiled that sounds right now but it was what it was!

Then I tried organic apples and the freedom gates opened wide!

I also learned that I can reduce my risk of Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and a host of cancers by eating them. Additionally, I can whiten my teeth, ease digestive issues and boost my immune system by chewing on 'em. What's not to love?

Here are a few ways that I like to eat my organic apples:

  • Sprinkle them with cinnamon (pictured) for a decadent snack
  • Top them with raisins and peanut butter for a filling snack
  • Toss them in a blender with almond milk and pitted dates for a quick snack

So, what are you waiting for? Go grab a cool one.

P.S.
Once you use one of these, your entire life will change. Don't say I didn't warn ya.
